Going grassroots

July 14, 2017

Yesterday evening, Dave Dutro, the owner/organizer of a the local trail running group Trail Maniacs, hosted a fun run and BBQ to support the Proof of Life film. He was joined by the NW rep for Asics, Amanda Johnson, who has also been a solid supporter along the way.

It was really hot out. Still, a bunch of folks showed up. They fell into three loose categories:

-First were trail runners from the Trail Maniacs group. Some I knew, a few I had seen at races, a number I'd never met.

- There were Keith and Karen, a couple I'm getting to know from the Nordic skiing community, who showed up to support.

-Then were friends from church. One highlight of that group was Mike, Rachelle and Anna all running trails for the first time.

I came away overwhelmed by the generous support from all these folks.

They inspired me to create a goFundMe campaign for the Proof of Life film. If you are moved to support the film, it's at https://www.gofundme.com/proof-of-life-film.

Again, the film trailer, a short update from my first Spring run and the invitation video for yesterday's event that shows a lot of the footage we've filmed to date are all at proofoflifefilm.com.

My health is good, training for the end goal of the Riverside 50k on September 9 is solid under Dave's guidance, and filming with Adam Harum has been life-giving. I'm looking forward to the very challenging Mt. Spokane 25k next week, another step in the goal.

I'm also getting a vision for new directions this journey and film might take me after September and perhaps be used to impact others' lives.

Stay tuned!
