Directing a trail run event has been a goal of mine for a few years. In late winter the idea sprouted to host a race, called the Mountain Magic trail run, on the cross-country ski trails I'd grown to love.

there is mounting evidence that three things can have a significant effect on people’s health: physical activity, spending time in nature, and human interaction.

Can a person with a terminal diagnosis live with the constant acknowledgement of their condition and still be “happy?” I’m beginning to see signs of hope that it may be possible.

Last summer it occurred to me that PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) might apply to cancer survivors, looked it up, and sure enough – whammo – it’s a thing.

About Brad Thiessen

After my third cancer experience, my emotional and spiritual survival depended on finding hope and meaning in the face of a diagnosis that is statistically fatal and sure to recur. I came out of it seeking hope and meaning in the face of an uncertain future.

As this blog develops, I hope to not just share and investigate from my own life, but also give voice to what others have learned on the journey. Learn more of my story and the Proof of Life projects.
